Beautiful Blows - a story of lost love and lost titles pulled from the heart of London's boxing world
In the lead up to the 2012 London Olympics, The Mayhem Company – producer's of last year's sell-out show Elephant 21 at Royal Court Theatre Local (Time Out Critic's Choice****) - have spent six months interviewing boxers aged 8 to 80: past heroes, current champions and future hopefuls.
Working in collaboration with London Ex Boxers Association, The Lynn Club and Downside Fisher Club, 'Beautiful Blows' is a theatrical celebration of real life stories, and will feature young boxers from The Lynn Club, Camberwell alongside company members and professional actors.
Beautiful Blows is the second play in Mayhem's Big Britain oral history series. It is a unique celebration of Boxing's real life stories, and why boxing matters.
The Mayhem Company will be performing 'Beautiful Blows' in The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall from 23 - 25 August as part of Southbank Centre's 60th anniversary Festival of Britain celebrations.
